Dear Samuel, Month 41

Dear Samuel,

Lately you talk about when I'm four I'm going to do this and that. We try to get you to try new foods and you say you will when you are four. It sure sounds like you will be a very busy boy when you turn four! You love to escort daddy into his car when he goes to work. You asked daddy if you could drive one time and daddy said that you have to be 16. You now tell us all the time that you can drive when you are 16! It is super cute.

You love to go on stroller rides with Livi and I each afternoon. You tell me that you are going to relax and snooze and you always do!  Since it is warmer outside, we have also been taking hikes and long walks. You enjoy exploring nature and the Colorado outdoors.  We are excited to go camping this summer because we know you'll love it! 

You can take your shoes off by yourself, you can go to the bathroom all by yourself and you are learning to put your shoes on by yourself. You are becoming a little more independent each day and that makes me happy and sad at the same time. I love to see your excitement when you accomplish these by yourself but I also sometimes reflect on the fact that soon enough there will be many things that I won't need to help you with and that just reminds me that you are growing up so fast!

Dear Olivia, Month 13

Dear Olivia,

I feel like we just celebrated your first birthday so how can you already be another month older? You like to point and grunt to tell us things that you want to eat or play with. It's so nice that you are a little more able to express your wants.

You started walking about 2 weeks ago!! You love to wander around the house getting into things now that you are on 2 feet. You love to walk laps around our pantry upstairs.

Your favorite game is peek-a-boo. You are super cute these days when you crinkle your little nose. 

You are an absolute joy and so much fun!

Dear Samuel, Month 40

Dear Samuel,

You, Olivia and I traveled to St. Louis to see family last weekend and you loved every minute of it (well every minute except when we talked to daddy on the computer and he showed you your little froggie - then you broke down).  So thanks to daddy I had 10 fun minutes of trying to calm you down. Needless to say, we will not talk to daddy on the computer while out of town again. You played a lot with cousin Addy while in St. Louis. 

On the plane ride home we talked about seeing daddy after we got off the plane. So when we walked to the train, you told a random woman that "I'm going to see daddy!" You said it with such excitement, everyone around us smiled and laughed.

You are now speaking in sentences and expressing your feelings. You tell daddy and I when you are sad, happy, angry, etc.  I often tell Olivia that she is so pretty. Well, lately you will randomly say, "Livi is so pretty." I love it!

Wow, could the past year have gone by any faster?!?!?!?

One year ago you were placed in my arms & my life will never be the same! You are my little sweetheart. I absolutely love watching you grow and learn new things.

You are nearly walking, have 8 teeth, and are beginning to say a few of your own words like "dat" for cat. I cannot wait to see what your second year has in store.
