Christmas 2010

We enjoyed a nice quiet and relaxing Christmas at home this year. We missed spending the holiday with extended family but didn't miss traveling during the holiday!

Samuel really got into Christmas this year. He loved counting down the days until Santa came.  He enjoyed the family Christmas Eve service at our church. It had audience participation (or should I say kid participation). They had costumes like shepherds, kings, angels, etc for the kids to dress up as. Samuel said he wanted to be a shepherd but as soon as they tried to put it on him, he threw and fit and that was that - he just watched from the pew and seemed to enjoy that better. We tracked Santa on Norad's website off & on all day long.  He enjoyed leaving cookies & milk for Santa and was surprised to see that Santa only ate 1.5 of the 2 cookies! He is still talking about the half yellow one he left (the one w/ yellow frosting).  He is enjoying his Wii Party game, his plastic golf club set, a castle, a magnetic calendar & many more! Little does he know Christmas will come again next weekend when Mamaw & Papaw Watts visit and bring gifts from my side of the family. Then a little more than a week after that, is his birthday!  I have a feeling he is going to get used to getting gifts...

Olivia didn't open many of her gifts this year but she did enjoy chewing the wrapping paper! I must say she looked pretty darn cute, though! Our latest challenge with her has been to keep her (& her walker) away from the Christmas tree!

We did manage to enjoy a nice Christmas dinner with little effort on my part - yay! Our kind neighbors gave us a half a ham from Honeybaked Ham! It was delicious! I also cooked a very small turkey and a few side dishes. Overall, not too shabby for someone who doesn't like to cook!

Well, hope you and yours had a great holiday celebrating Jesus' birth!
